FLORA CARBO (SOLO)
A new project featuring loopy songs, drum machine and saxophone FX.

FCPE
FCPE (Flora Carbo Percussion Ensemble) is a dynamic project inspired by community, electronic music and patience. Focusing on restraint, pulse, glitch and disintegration; the music is loopy, fluid and intoxicating featuring the strengths of the diverse percussive improvising community.

ECOSYSTEM

Inspired by Flora Carbo’s interest in musical individuality, vocal expression and the vocality of the alto saxophone, ‘Ecosystem’ is a new project featuring an ensemble of vocalists (Merinda Dias- Jayasinha, Mel Taylor and Hannah McKittrick) and alto saxophonists (Flora Carbo, Zac O’Connell, Bernard Alexander). These works explore the role of the individual within a group and the diversity of musical strengths within the ensemble, while also defining a strong and unique sonic voice as a whole. This idea can be paralleled to the functionality of a natural ecosystem and the powerfulness of social change through collective action of individuals.

THE REST IS SILENCE

The Rest is Silence is a cross-genre quartet that dreams big and sounds larger. Bringing together four of Melbourne’s most prodigal young jazz artists, they explore the space between jazz, post-rock, country, electronic and experimental composition and improvisation. Siblings Flora Carbo (alto saxophone) and Theo Carbo (guitar) are joined by long-time friends Isaac Gunnoo (double bass) and Maddison Carter (drums). The two deeply connected halves of the quartet unite to create unique and trusting musical explorations. This music is enhanced by their deep appreciation for many musical genres—a sound world built upon the micro and the macro.
